Women’s Wellness: 7 Daily Habits for Energy and Balance
Between work, family and everything in between, many women put their own health last. The good news is that you do not need a complete overhaul. A few steady daily habits can support your energy, mood and long-term wellbeing.
1. Build a balanced plate
Aim for a mix of protein (dal, paneer, curd, eggs, sprouts), whole grains or millets, and plenty of colourful vegetables at each main meal. Protein keeps you full for longer and helps maintain muscle as you age.
2. Look after your iron
Low iron is common among Indian women and can leave you tired and breathless. Include iron-rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, rajma, chana, jaggery in moderation and dates. Pair them with vitamin C (amla, lemon, guava) to help absorption, and avoid tea or coffee right after meals.
3. Protect your bones
Calcium and vitamin D work together for strong bones. Dairy, ragi, sesame seeds and green vegetables provide calcium. Around 15–20 minutes of sunlight on your arms and face on most days helps your body make vitamin D.
4. Move every day
A brisk 30-minute walk, yoga or a home workout is enough to make a difference. Try to add simple strength exercises (squats, wall push-ups, resistance bands) two or three times a week — they support bone density and metabolism.
5. Protect your sleep
Seven to nine hours of sleep supports hormones, mood and appetite. Keep a regular bedtime, dim the lights an hour before bed and keep screens out of the bedroom where you can.
6. Make space for stress relief
Even ten minutes a day helps. Try deep breathing (pranayama), a short walk outdoors, journalling or simply a quiet cup of tea. Chronic stress affects sleep, cycles and energy, so it deserves attention.
7. Listen to your cycle
Your cycle is a useful signal of overall health. Keep a simple record of dates and symptoms. Very painful, heavy or irregular periods are worth discussing with a gynaecologist — they can point to conditions such as PCOS, thyroid imbalance or anaemia that need proper care.
Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used for women
Ayurveda has a long tradition of herbs for women’s health. Some of the best known are:
- Shatavari — traditionally used as a nourishing, rejuvenating herb for women.
- Ashok chhal (Ashoka bark) — traditionally used to support menstrual comfort.
- Lodhra — traditionally used in formulas for women’s wellbeing.
- Amla — a natural source of vitamin C.
- Daru haldi and dalchini (cinnamon) — common supporting herbs in traditional blends.
These herbs come together in our Women Care Juice. If you are looking to fill everyday nutrient gaps, our Multivitamin for Women provides zinc, calcium, biotin and vitamins A, B and C in one daily tablet.
The bottom line
Consistency matters more than perfection. Pick one or two habits to start with this week, build on them, and see a doctor for regular check-ups — including blood tests for haemoglobin, vitamin D and thyroid if you often feel tired.
